Counseling makes a space for you, probably unlike any you've experienced before. Take the time to intentionally search and open up to your inner thoughts and concerns without judgement and with your utmost privacy in mind. Counseling is work you do for yourself, with me as your guide. We can work on optimizing your life so that you can thrive in the present moment, manage mental health conditions that you may be experiencing, and navigate the challenges that life inevitably brings. I believe in following your lead and understanding where you are coming from and what you hope to gain through counseling.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Approved to provide EMDR through Emdria (EMDR International Association)
EMDR is a therapeutic approach endorsed by trusted mental health organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association and the Veterans Administration for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It is also helpful with distressing thoughts of many varieties. I was trained to provide EMDR by the Emdria organization and continue to consult with colleagues regarding my EMDR work. Most talk-based therapy impacts us "from the top down" (in other words, once we can get our thoughts right then the body sensations will follow). EMDR turns this around and works "from the bottom up" (once we get our body healed, our healthy thoughts will naturally follow). Click here to read more about this treatment approach.
Therapy, Crisis Response, and School Counseling
I am available for consultation relationships in the Michiana area. I value personal growth, professional development, and improving processes. My background is as a therapist in community mental health, a crisis counselor, and as a school counselor where I led my department in earning the Indiana Gold Star Award for excellence in School Counseling and the ASCA RAMP Award. I also served for 2 years on the Saint Joseph County CARES Cross System Review Panel and have extensive knowledge of resources in town. Let's share ideas and processes so we can work smarter- not harder!
